Topic: 2014 Health Accord
- Ø Health Care is a top issue of concerns for Canadians. The 2004 Health Accord is up for renewal in 2014.
- Ø Canadians want the federal government working with the provinces and territories on healthcare s an immediate priority for the country
- Ø The Canadian Health Coalition represents the views of over 87% of Canadians that want public solutions to Canada’s Health Care problems.
Presenter: Ted Woynillowicz, the Council’s prairie regional representative, traveled to Ottawa to attend the Secure the Future of Medicare: A Call to Care to participate in the Canadian Health Coalition Strategy Session, the Training Session for Lobby, and the Secure the Future of Medicare Panel at the Chateau Laurier Hotel. Individual meetings with MPs and Senators followed on the next day.
An overview of this 2-day event will be presented. This will be followed by a discussion and a call for public participation to meet with local MPs and Senators to lobby for a new enhanced and expanded 10 year Health Accord that includes homecare, long-term care, palliative care and a comprehensive drug plan.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
